Recreation and Access
With the exception of a short period during construction there would be no restrictions on access to the forest and to the hilltops throughout the lifetime of the windfarm. The siting of the turbines will avoid the Rights of Way which cross the area and indeed part of the mitigation offered through the development is to improve access arrangements. We realise that horse riding is popular in the area. There is clear evidence that livestock including horses are not disturbed by wind turbines. Indeed, the first wind farm built in the UK, Delabole, has a stud farm and riding school, and the farmer, Peter Edwards, often rides around the wind farm on his horse.
